Steam Bent Oak Lampshade

September 2018

It’s September and I can’t believe people are talking about Christmas already. Where has the summer gone?!

It has been a week since Er’indoors and I headed south to Hampton Court Palace and set up our stand for Kirstie Allsopp’s The Handmade Fair.

Kirtsie Allsopp

It was our 3rd visit and I reckon it’ll be our last. To pastures new and all that.

We have learnt a great deal but good things do come to an end. There is plenty more fish in the sea.

We met a good few friendly faces that we had met before and had some new aquantencies. I gave away a dozen The Handmade Fair tickets and included an engraved Golden Oak Ticket, to redeam at the stand. A great hit.
We introduced a couple of new products which were a well recieved.

For the rest of the year, there are a few shows/fairs to get ready for. Theres Gloucester Docks C’mas fair in November and Beverley’s Festival of Christmas in December, not to mention The Good Food Show at the NEC late November and early December. A little bit nail biting as it’s the first time standing there but Im sure the In Laws will put us up with due dilligence. There is even talk about a special present for them for all their hard work.

As the last quarter of the year begins, my busy time starts in ernest. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m proud of what I make and the people I know who I make things for. I may be sitting with the door open and shivering, hearing the workshop door shaking in all the wind and the paperwork fluttering away with the gusts of wind. I’d rather that than it being stinking hot.
For now….
