It is difficult to throw something away when you know its got a worth. What does any woodworker do with their shavings? I now make briquettes from it. The process of making something out of wood, you plane it flat, thickness it parallel then saw, sand and seal. Sometimes theres alot of shaving. As good as a piece of wood but to burn shavings isnt very practical. I bought a briquetter, it squishes the shaving with very high pressure to form a cube. No resins or binders, just pressure. As clean as whatever went in.
They work great in a stove! Set the air flow down to regulate the burning process, they last for hours. A shovel full gives out a load of heat.
